Position Description
The Marketing Analytics and Research position is a cross-functional position that will be proficient in both the market research and analytics functions of the Marketing Services Department.
Responsible for the design, execution, analysis, and reporting/interpretation of results for market research/analytics projects. Work independently in the primary and secondary market research process with alignment with client goals, objectives, and disease state/product knowledge as well as advanced levels of overall project ownership. Expectations include gained efficiencies in project work/timelines while maintaining a focus on demonstrating highly effective project management, organization, and communication skills. A high focus on customer service is expected with, analysis, problem solving, and implementation of innovative methods for executing all phases of market research projects.
Specific Position Roles/Responsibilities
- Primary Research—Independently develop and execute surveys using appropriate survey software (Teleform and Liquid Office); work with Scientific Content Consultant and/or Team Lead to apply disease state and product knowledge to write survey questions; work with Team Lead to create final deliverable; tabulate survey results using survey software; assist in the analyze and review of data, including open-ended questions; interpret findings to produce concise and actionable reports for clients
- Secondary Research—Help design research methodology; gather data through a variety of methods; assist with analysis and provide findings on data in order to determine future project or client strategy or to identify key players in a given market; assist in the preparation of written and visual deliverables to current and prospective clients as well as internal management
- Project Management—Manage projects internally, including timelines, and deliverables; clearly communicate to cross-functional team members; develop working strategy based on initial strategy outlined in proposals; respond to questions from internal departments concerning data and/or analysis; discuss any nonpolicy or unusual problems with project lead or account manager; respond to internal or external requests; at any given time, maintain accurate knowledge of project flow to provide to team members on request; keep records of nature and amount of time spent on various projects
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (preferably in Marketing) and two to three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of one to two years of client service (internal or external clients) experience
- Interest and/or experience in market research, survey development and execution, and reporting survey results/outcomes
- Basic understanding of data analysis/statistics
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Internet research
- Experience with online databases/reporting tools, Microsoft Access, Microsoft MapPoint, and SPSS a plus
- Understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device industries as well as pharmaceutical industry codes and guidelines not necessary, but a plus
- Excellent customer service and dependability
- Accuracy in one’s own work, as well as quality assurance cross-functionally to deliver high quality work
- Use intuition and experience to complement work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with both language and numerical data as well as the ability to read and interpret information as well as present data in graphical form
- Ability to utilize software applications including Teleform, Liquid Office, eMedScout, a proprietary data mining tool, as well as Web-based database research sites
- Awareness of budgeted hours and ability stay within budget; identify scope change needs
