Description:
Purpose:
To manage designated client accounts and to provide direct line management to all personnel within a specified client service team
Dimension:
An Account Director manages and directs specified accounts and provides line management for a specified client service team consisting of Medical Writers and Account handlers. The Account Director is also responsible for the profitability of all accounts within the client service team. There may be several client service team leaders within the company structure. A client service team leader reports to the Managing Director or Client Services Director (when appointed).
Nature/scope:
- To drive and manage designated accounts proactively in terms of strategy, tactics and income
- To be responsible, in conjunction with the Client Services Director or the Managing Director, for the profitability of assigned Accounts.
- To work with the Managing Director / Client Services Director (and Editorial Director) on proposals for new work, and to resolve issues of client service
- To provide direct line management to team members, to include pastoral issues such as holidays, sickness, team relationships etc.
- To provide direction to the team and to motivate the team
- To conduct regular team and Account meetings, as appropriate
- To be responsible for project allocation
- To observe Excellence in Client Service (EICS) and motivate others to observe EICS, and to reinforce company QA practice with EICS controller and the Editorial Director
- To ensure that training needs of individual team members are met by working with the Editorial Director and Personal Development Process (PDP) officer
- To be involved in team recruitment, in conjunction with the Managing Director / Client Services Director and Editorial Director, as appropriate
- To conduct PDP reviews with team members and recommend salary adjustments to the Managing Director
- To keep Client Services Director and Managing Director informed of all major developments within the client service teams including changes within the accounts or significant personnel issues
- Significant experience in medical education
- Ability to motivate and provide direction
- Financial awareness, ability to manage profitable Accounts and grow business within existing Accounts
- Strategic and tactical ability
- Ability to review and appraise all work of the team, and give constructive feedback according to the brief
- Ability to manage project allocation efficiently
- Ability to deal with personnel issues with tact, discretion and authority
- Excellent client skills
- Answerable to the Managing Director / Client Services Director for team management, including the profitability of designated Accounts
- Life science degree preferred, and at least 3-5 years medical education experience in an agency or industry environment
