Position Summary:
To achieve the efficient and timely implementation of projects that deliver cost-effective solutions to clients and adequate revenue, as well as supporting senior staff in the development of new business opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Business Development
- Conduct market analysis in order to identify new business opportunities
- Identify new business opportunities both with existing clients and new clients
- Development of new business presentations
- Take a lead role in developing full proposals and preparing estimates for new business for final approval by a Director
- Develop new, original and innovative business ideas to meet clients’ needs
- Secure opportunities to present new ideas
- Secure greater than or equal to $150,000 in new business annually
- Project Management
- Manage greater than or equal to $500,000 in net revenue
- Where possible, expand business from client on all accounts managed by 10%
- Implement the timely delivery of effective services to the complete satisfaction of the client
- Function as lead account contact on most of the assigned projects and continue to function as backup on projects managed by more junior staff
- Coordinate project teams including staff and personnel from other departments and offices, including preparation of project timelines, ongoing budget review, and management of all projects through delivery on schedule
- Identify resource needs for all projects to ensure adequate staffing necessary for successful project implementation and completion
- Provide progress reports on projects to clients under supervision of Account Director
- Financial
- Prepare budgets for all proposed activities for final approval by Account Director
- Ensure internal cost control and adherence to agreed budgets
- Work with FPAs to ensure timely invoicing for all projects managed as lead account person according to the payment terms agreed upon in the final proposal
- Prepare financial reconciliation on completion of projects for review by Account Director
- Develop and maintain all financial records for projects, including monthly budget review and subsequent revisions as necessary
- Monitor estimated revenue on projects to ensure average revenue for all projects managed meets appropriate revenue target
- Management
- Assist the director and senior account manager in the training and mentoring of direct reports
- A bachelor’s degree (life sciences preferable) and a master’s or PhD plus four to six years experience in a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical environment, OR
- Any appropriate combination of education and experience
- General computer literacy required with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office.
