Position Description:
Develop/maintain relationships with pharmaceutical industry to positively position our client in securing educational grants for proprietary programming, single sponsored events and potential RFPs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that assigned sponsorship targets are met or exceeded.
- Develops sponsorship options in compliance with ACCME/OIG/PHrMA requirements and guidelines.
- Identifies potential supporters and informs them in a timely fashion of sponsorship opportunities.
- Schedules, prepares, executes and follows-up on sales calls (minimum 4 visits per quarter with 8 client contacts).
- Negotiates, closes and obtains executed contracts with supporters in compliance with CME requirements.
- Coordinates development of materials required for submission of grant requests and submits grant requests.
- Follows up with potential supporters in writing, by phone, and by visits at company’s location or at other meetings.
- Solicits/responds to RFPs.
- Prepares complete documentation for Client Relations Coordinator to ensure proper administration and invoicing of clients.
- Researches and identifies potential new areas for program development, and/or alternative meeting formats, and assesses profitability.
- Scouts developments by other medical education/medical communication companies.
- Maintains a comprehensive CRM database and procedures manual.
- Communicates client’s needs and expectations throughout the organization for both single sponsored and multi-sponsored programs, signals any issues or concerns and pursues corrective action.
- Participates in team meetings; reports on timelines and project execution/status.
- Communicates with meeting chairs and faculty to ensure client needs are discussed in accordance with ACCME guidelines.
- Creates and secures up-sell opportunities for all proprietary and single sponsored programs (i.e., web cast, CD ROM, newsletters, journal supplements).
- Solicits feedback from clients on performance and communicates relevant findings to management and organization.
- Attends projects as needed.
- Assists management with the development, implementation and modification (as necessary) of company procedures and policies.
- Suggests opportunities to improve operations of department.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years BD/sales experience (of which at least 1.5 years in med ed/med com/pharma)
- Experience in medical education
- Has relationships with US and/or International pharmaceutical marketing decision makers
- Has relationships with US and/or International KOLs
- Team leader, team player, motivator, entrepreneurial spirit
- Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to present and sell ideas and solutions to clients and internal staff
