Description:
We are currently seeking talented, experienced candidates for the position of Scientific Affairs Medical Editor. Ideal candidates will have experience in continuing medical education (CME), medical and/or health care communications, and/or pharmaceutical marketing.
Responsibilities/Requirements:
Editorialize and proof scientific disease based technical documents, manuscripts, newsletters, slide presentations and publications. Works independently to ensure accuracy, consistency and approved style guidelines are executed on all assigned projects.
Essential Functions:
- Edit all assigned project to AMA style guidelines
- Verify medical terminology and fact check references
- Confirm all figures and tables are cited in text.
- Order references and permissions required to support each project
- Execute Medline reference search and other internet research.
- Fact check numerical ordering of references and title, author and publication data from purchased reference sheet.
- Ensure accuracy of spelling, grammar and syntactic consistency.
- Check current version against previous rounds to ensure edits have been implemented.
- Verify accreditation statement against accreditor backup.
- Verify physician disclosure information against backup.
- Verify physician names and titles against CV/bios.
- Ensure consistency of physician names and titles throughout all materials.
- Check accuracy and consistency of abbreviations, acronyms, and initialisms.
- Edit tables and figure for consistent formats.
- Strong written skills and understanding of AMA style requirements.
- Experience with MS word, power point and Internet explorer.
- In-depth understanding of ACCME/ACPE/CME/CE experience.
- Sound judgment and reasoning.
- Detail oriented
- Solid organizational skills
- College degree with 3+ years related experience in proofreading/editing of CME and non-CME educational materials.
- Advanced college degree (PharmD, RPh) or related experience in pharmaceutical marketing/sales, training or pharmaceutical advertising a strong plus.
