Position Overview:
A Medical Director is the medical/scientific lead on an account team. As such, the Medical Director partners with the Account Director to provide strategic input for publication plans, and to identify appropriate tactics. Operationally, the Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that content development is accurate, balanced, efficient, consistent, current, and complies with industry and company compliance guidelines. The Medical Director is expected to work effectively with clients, faculty, and team members. A Medical Director collaborates closely with the account team’s medical writers, and is responsible for clearly communicating content needs to the medical writers, and for guiding graphic designers on concept expectations.
Specific Activities, and Responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic area and product expertise to assigned brand teams
- Build relationships with clients’ clinical staff, authors, investigators
- Work in tandem with the Account Director and clients to develop publication strategies and message points
- Work closely with medical writers to ensure content accuracy and consistency
- Supervise the planning and execution of a variety of technical projects including journal publications, monographs, slide presentations, training programs, and other medical education projects
- Responsible for scientific accuracy and integrity of all materials released to clients on assigned accounts
- Contribute as needed to the preparation and presentation of proposals for assigned accounts and for new business opportunities
- MD, PharmD, PhD
- 5+ years experience with a medical education company, advertising agency, publication planning company, or equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of critically analyzing clinical data, distilling complex concepts into language that is suitable for a variety of medical audiences.
- Strategic thinking ability
- Works well in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Should be comfortable serving as the primary scientific/medical interface with clients and faculty
- Candidates must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Position requires travel to client meetings and occasional overnight travel.
