Description:

Overview
The Senior Medical Writer reports directly to the Executive Director. Duties include researching, writing, and editing content for a variety of educational (and/or promotional) programs for physicians, pharmacists, nurses and/or other allied health care professionals. Content development will occur across a diverse range of therapeutic areas, with emphasis in the field of oncology. The position will also involve extensive consultation with clinical experts for both content development and review functions. The successful candidate will be familiar with a variety of therapeutic areas, clinical concepts, practices, and procedures, and will rely on extensive experience and judgment to develop appropriate program-specific content.

Responsibilities

• Develop content for use in educational (and/or promotional) programs presented in CD-ROM, Internet, video and print formats
• Work with clinical experts to identify appropriate content for inclusion and further development in educational (and/or promotional) programs
• Edit content submitted by clinical experts for use in educational (and/or promotional) programs
• Work with clinical experts in the review of program content and revise content as necessary, per the direction of the reviewers
• Conduct research into topics for inclusion in grant requests and related proposals
• Write needs assessments based upon identified educational needs and drawing upon information from a variety of sources
• Conduct literature searches and identify references as needed for documentation and program support
• Work with internal teams to ensure that project deadlines are met, by providing content development support, research and editing functions, as required

Position Requirements

• Position requirements include the following:
• Master’s degree or higher
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a medical writer
• Previous experience in developing content for educational (and/or promotional) programs for physicians
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work closely in a team environment
