Position Summary
Supervises account management effort for (client). Provides strategic brand and advertising direction and guidance to team. Maintains overall responsibility for agency performance and health of the agency/client relationship. The Vice President title connotes agency responsibilities in addition to account specific responsibilities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Client:
- Responsible for client’s brand development: stewardship of brand integration into all aspects of client’s business
- Accountable for account management functional staff utilization on the account
- Plans study of work problems and procedures such as organizational change, communications, information flow, integrated production methods, etc.
- Acts as a partner with client. Also ‘leads’ the client and handles objections appropriately. Strong advocate for agency POV.
- Builds strong relationships with client at all levels with particular focus on the Product Management/Director levels
- New Business Expectations and Competencies: identifies and acts on (with senior management) incremental revenue opportunities
- Internal:
- Participates in new business pitches
- Maintains and develops close interaction with executives and other management
- Provides assistance, leadership related to agency/team/management policies and practices
- Develops staff, mentors. Responsible for day-to-functioning of team. Attracts and retains talent to team and agency. Finds learning and development opportunities for junior staff.
- Ensures positive working relationships between account team and all other internal departments.
- Financial Responsibilities:
- Forecasts revenue and agency costs
- Analyzes business and operating procedures to devise most efficient methods of accomplishing work
- Develops budget accurately and to support agency/team objectives and plans
- Billing and collection responsibilities: make sure hours allotted by team against appropriate jobs

- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 8-10 years of account management, brand management in pharmaceutical industry or within pharma advertising
- 2-4 years of managerial experience with direct reports
- Preferred:
- Previous work on a multi-million dollar brand
- Master’s Degree: MBA or
- Vice President Qualifications:
- Clear potential for vertical and horizontal broadening movement
- Consistent outstanding performance against job, departmental, and company objectives
- Strong, proven management skills: effective results, strong mentorship, positive influence, agency and client process steward
- Creative excellence within discipline or craft
- Minimum one year with agency. Must have ‘outstanding’ or ‘exceeds expectations’ on most recent performance evaluation. May come in to Agency with VP title if appropriate to job function and relative seniority.
