Position Description
The Senior Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for a team of Account Manager(s) and Account Services team members, therefore managing more than one account. The Senior Account Manager must have deep product knowledge of all the accounts within his/her oversight and an awareness of product information and services provided in other accounts. The SAM must also have a complete understanding of the client’s objectives and goals. It is very important for the Senior Account Manager to have a broad vision and awareness corporately, rather than a silo approach for success. The success of this position relies on the success of the team, teamwork with other SAMs, as well as individual performance. Responsibilities for this position include oversight of ALL those listed with the Account Manager, with the primary addition of involvement in strategic partnership with a client.
While in this position, the Senior Account Manager will:
- Develop the forecast for accounts and provide to the Strategic Marketing Consultant
- Develop and deliver capabilities presentation and discuss new services with client
- Lead multiple accounts and account teams
- Create and communicate a compelling and inspiring vision for the future that goes beyond a project or specific account
- Be widely recognized for expertise in understanding pharmaceutical marketing
- Recommend and helps implement solutions to address capability gaps
- Increase experience in both pre-launch and post-launch programs and strategies
- Act as the ’in-house’ client at all times by creating work to clients’ expectations
- People management and responsibility: Have a direct report(s) of an Account Manager(s)
- Oversee all budgets within accounts
- Gives others the opportunity to "shine" as leader, demonstrate client skills, and model strategic thinking
- Participate in shared learning events
- Submit timely and accurate time and expense reports
- Travel to client meetings and programs
- Complete understanding and support of the corporate vision
- Ability to align with the other Senior Account Managers and Strategic Marketing Consultants and build synergy between the teams
- Strong skills in training, empowering, motivating team members
- Strong leadership skills
- Strategist for each product team and also for the department
- Must have the ability to think in terms of value to the client and train team members on customer relations and building customer loyalty
- Complete at least one leadership training course
- Strive for team productivity-must account for team’s billable hours
