Position Summary:
To effectively implement layout and design solutions, following the direction of the team using computer and/or traditional production skills.
Description of Duties:
- Primary Responsibilities: Tactical Development
- Provide multiple solutions to each assignment, taking into account any/all restrictions included in the educational brief, action request, and/or direction.
- Develop an understanding of the science and market dynamics of assigned product(s).
- Assist in preparing materials necessary for client presentations.
- Develop the ability to communicate knowledge of assigned product(s).
- Manage style sheets within page layouts to ensure consistency within the brand.
- Assist in workload management when needed.
- A minimum of an associate’s (2 year) degree in advertising/communication design or visual arts. A bachelor’s (4-year) degree is preferred.
- 1-2 years of related experience in design or agency setting preferred.
- If no degree is possessed, then a minimum of 4 years of related experience in design or agency setting is required.
- Must possess exceptional computer skills. Macintosh operating platform a must. PC knowledge a plus. Thorough knowledge of the following software applications is required: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop and Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments at one time.
- Strong composition techniques in producing polished final pieces (i.e., attention to detail, reading editorial symbols and comments).
- Computer photo-retouching and image development skills is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of:
- Color theory and color relationships
- Typographic terms that identify type forms and the specifications required to refer to typographic settings (i.e., points, leading, picas, kerning, tracking, cap-height, x-height etc.)
- Perspective and space relationships
- Page composition and grid structures
- Print production process
- Photography and the photographic process
- Editing and editorial comments
- Brand standard guidelines and regulatory guidelines
