Job Summary
The primary function of the Managing Director is to direct, manage and creatively improve the agency operations, activities and profitability. Evolves and promotes agency vision. The Managing Director is the ultimate client contact and ensures that all agency contact with the client meet the standard of quality. The visible leader will actively contribute to the overall direction and success of our client.
Job Responsibilities
- Client:
- Regularly visit and interact with each Client and its management team regarding the strategic direction of the Client Company, their brands and the Agency. Continually seek ways to extend the Agency’s value to the Client through additional services or capabilities.
- New Business/External:
- Directs and/or personally participates in acquisition and growth activities, including investigations, evaluations, and negotiations, in accordance with objectives and plans established by the CEO
- Ensure that all new business initiatives reflect the Agency’s business/strategic philosophy and financial objectives.
- Internal:
- Leads Agency senior management in the creation, execution and communication of brand strategies and campaigns based upon the organizations goals and growth objectives,
- Recommends changes in organization, as required by the development and growth of the business.
- Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined, understood and developed including establishing policies.
- Financial/Operations Responsibilities:
- Maintains all applicable financial and ethical reporting requirements as set forth by company policy and government regulations. Holds all employees to same strict standards of conduct and operation.
- Participates in the formulation of forecast and budget.
- Through development of current clients, and new business, ensure income adequate to support the budget and Agency short- and long-range growth objectives.
- "Owns" the numbers.
- Understands and reinforces the link between operational procedures and financial results (i.e. billability, timely submission of hours, working capital goals).
- Span of Control - Reporting Relationships
- Direct:
- Business Unit & top level client relationship.
- Indirect/Matrix:
- Regional/North American Advertising projects & initiatives.
- Financial Impact and Accountability
- "Own" numbers - overall P&L responsibility for Agency.
- Strategy & Innovation (high, med,, low)
- High - Evolves and promotes agency direction.
- Client Partnerships
- Ultimately responsible for the client business.
- Expected to maintain senior level client relationships.
- Level of Strategic Alliances and business relationships expected to build
- Includes but not limited to external partners, sister companies, vendors, internal operations, IT, cross-functional.
- Decision Making Impact
- Creates a direction for the organization and devises the plans for short-term and long-term vitality, growth and success.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 15 -20 years of marketing experience: normally at least 10 in advertising agency
- 10+ years of managerial experience required
- Evidence of P&L responsibility
- Pharmaceutical industry depth of knowledge
