Purpose
The Group Planning Director is responsible for leading the organization’s level of strategic discipline, enhancing account and creative teams’ performance in brand stewardship and the creation of our client’s planning disciplines and processes - in the context of customer insight.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the facilitation of the agency’s strategic leadership on behalf of the client’s brand(s), to ensure that creative ideas and tactics are developed and delivered to our clients.
  • Work with senior account and creative managers to develop the processes for, and leading the development of, brand positionings, strategic plans and creative briefs and provide strategic leadership in the development of creative ideas and tactics which meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Provide leadership to clients and the internal agency team on client’s customer research needs and their strategic/creative implications, to build a foundation for strategic insight which is central to the development.
  • Oversee the analysis of all data and customer research relevant to the brand’s communication decisions, to provide strategic insight and make relevant recommendations towards the development.
  • Envision future growth for the role of the Planning function within our client and among its clients’ Brand/Marketing teams, to build the Planning function within our client as a value-added discipline (value-added with respect to competitors).
  • Lead the development of proprietary products and services that help clients better understand their customers and brands, because helping to build the Planning function is critical to client acceptance of this value-added discipline.
  • Play a leadership role in the development of new business pitches by overseeing the exploration of customer insights and play a key role in developing pitch presentations to generate new business and contribute to the long-term financial health of the agency.
  • Server as a mentor to Sr. Planners, encouraging them to think in new ways and apply new approaches, to develop stronger relationships with Agency counterparts and clients and deliver on the employment value proposition. Organization The Group Planning Director position reports to the Director of Planning and works arm-in-arm with their senior counterparts in the Account Management and Creative departments, along side their Planning counterparts in the Scientific Insight group.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10-15 years prior work experience within an advertising environment; healthcare or pharmaceutical background preferred.
  • Prior account planning experience.
  • The stature and presence of a leader.
  • A strong team orientation
  • Previously-demonstrated ability to think strategically.
  • Intuitive about people, brands and advertising/communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
