Description:
The Production Manager is responsible for acquiring accurate, competitive and comparable print quotes for the Agency and coordinating print production and fulfillment of print pieces, overseeing Production from start to finish.
PRINT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoots and manages Production for Agency print work
- Works with Account Service and Art Director at Pre-Bid Meeting to acquire accurate specs for print production and fulfillment jobs on Bid Request Form
- Obtains print quotes and/or samples from multiple vendors for all Bid Requests (printing and premiums) and review them for accuracy, following up with Account Service and Art Director to clarify questions regarding paper, size, color, binding and fulfillment
- Builds Comparison Spreadsheet from quotes received from vendors, recommending vendor to print job, taking into account print piece, cost, vendor’s prior print history and quality
- Obtains die for print jobs
- Works with Account Service and vendor to prepare timeline for print jobs, including negotiating turnaround on urgent jobs
- Attends OK to Set Meeting with Account Service, Studio Manager, Art Buyer and Creative teams to confirm specs and assure Agency has all information necessary to release job
- Prepares Purchase Order from Vendor Quote and Component Summary Form for all print jobs and premiums
- Works with team to proof job (layout, copy, dies, etc.)
- Works with Account Service and vendor to flag and process alterations and corrections to proof
- Reviews invoices for accuracy and discusses cost issues or invoice discrepancies with printer representative
- Mentors Account Service Team on Production and fulfillment issues
- High school diploma, college degree preferred
- 3 years of print production management experience
- 5 years of work experience as a production manager at an advertising agency, pharmaceutical experience a plus
- Good communication skills, negotiation skills and effective organization skills
- Print Production and Print Equipment knowledge a must
- Proficient in Word and Excel
- Knowledge of FileMaker a plus
